Quantitative Classification of Desertification Severity for Degraded Aquifer Based on Remotely Sensed Drought Assessment

نویسندگان

چکیده

Natural and anthropogenic causes jointly lead to land degradation eventually desertification, which occurs in arid, semiarid, dry subhumid areas. Furthermore, extended drought periods may cause soil exposure erosion, and, finally, desertification. Several climatic, geological, hydrological, physiographic, biological, as well human factors contribute This paper presents a methodological procedure for the quantitative classification of desertification severity over watershed with degraded groundwater resources. It starts assessment using Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), based on gridded satellite-based precipitation data (taken from CHIRPS database), then erosion potential is assessed through modeling. The levels are estimated use simulation model quality components scattered data, interpolated geostatistical tools. Finally, combination leads final mapping classification.

Simulating Remotely Sensed Imagery for Classification Evaluation

The remote sensing community has long been active in developing, evaluating, and comparing different classification algorithms using a variety of remotely sensed imagery. As an integral component of image classification, accuracy assessment is usually conducted to evaluate the agreement between the classified map and the corresponding reference data. However, current accuracy assessment practic...

A Comparative Study of SVM and RF Methods for Classification of Alteration Zones Using Remotely Sensed Data

Identification and mapping of the significant alterations are the main objectives of the exploration geochemical surveys. The field study is time-consuming and costly to produce the classified maps. Therefore, the processing of remotely sensed data, which provide timely and multi-band (multi-layer) data, can be substituted for the field study. In this study, the ASTER imagery is used for altera...

Content Based Retrieval for Remotely Sensed Imagery

We present a framework for content based retrieval (CBR) of remotely sensed imagery. The main focus of our research is the segmentation step in CBR. A bank of gabor filters is used to extract regions of homogeneous texture. These filter responses are utilized in a multiscale clustering technique to yield the final segmentation. Novel area morphological filters are utilized for the purpose of sc...
